FROM BLUEPRINT TO ORBIT: HOW SYSTEMS ENGINEERING IS THE KEY ENABLER TO REALISING INDIA’S PRIVATE SPACE & AEROSPACE AMBITIONS
Talk Abstract
India’s rapidly evolving ASD sectors are embracing a paradigm shift where convolution of
innovation, integration, and systems reliability define success. As the nation transitions from
public-led programs to a vibrant private ecosystem of High Tech Startups and MSMEs, the
need for a structured approach to navigating complexity has never been greater. Systems
Engineering (SE) emerges as the invisible yet indispensable enabler which help connecting
creativity with discipline, technology with process, and imagination with implementation. It
ensures that rockets launch flawlessly, aircraft fly safely, and missions achieve their goals with
precision and efficiency. From defining clear requirements to integrating multidisciplinary
high performance teams, managing technological risks, and embedding quality-by-design, SE
transforms ideas into actionable realities. The digital transformation through Quality
5.0,Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Twins is accelerating innovation,
reducing time-to-launch, and enhancing reliability across the Systems Value Chain. As India’s
private players like Skyroot, Agnikul, Dhruva Space, and Tata Aerospace take flight, adopting
SE principles early will be vital to scale sustainably and meet global standards. Building a
strong systems thinking culture through collaboration between ISRO, DRDO, HAL, BEL,
academia, and industry will ensure that India not only launches missions but also engineers
systems that inspire the world. From blueprint to orbit, Systems Engineering is the bridge
between vision and victory, powering India’s ascent as a global ASD leader.
